This week, a mixture of Hazy Beats, RnB, Shoegaze, Crate-Digger Funk and beyond.
Aite, I know this sounds like some broken record ass ish, but once again, tonight on The Hard Deck, we went the fuck in. The first third of the show showcased some hazy-as-hell weird beatmaking music and R&G from some of my favourite dudes like Swarms, Clams Casino, How To Dress Well and their ilk.
After that we went shoegaze as hell with the likes of The Golden Awesome and My Bloody Valentine and their many musical descendants, and touched base with an alternative universe where Black people run the punk rock scene.
Of course after that we had to snap back to reality, and how better to do that than with a serious dose of fucking awesome classic and modern RnB - Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Playa, Warren G, Nate Dogg, Ginuwine and Drake, I see you! Even David Dallas got a look in.
Finally, things wrapped up with the homie Scratch22, who has just dropped a classic album, and the big man, David Axelrod, who defines classic in so many ways. See you all again in a fortnight.
